Went to my cousin's backyard wedding, and Whiskey Flats provided the catering. The guy that brought all the food was super accommodating and patient, and they even included free dessert (banana pudding). Food was excellent; we probably had everything they offered (sausages, chicken, pulled pork, brisket, ribs, slaw, potato salad, chili, cornbread, two kinds of Mac and cheese). Hella recommend!
Glad I moved closer... I finally tried this place, and I'm glad I did. I ordered the chicken, brisket, mac and cheese, chili, and potato salad. The chicken was smokey and flavorful! The brisket was juicy, smokey, and just the right amount of fat! Mac and cheese was cheesy and flavorful! The jalapeno was just right! Chili... my favorite. I was just perfect. The flavor was spot on, and the beans were perfectly cooked. Potato salad... it was done right. It was a good blend of ingredients, and the softness of the potato was just spot on! The sauces are next level. The green sauce for the chicken is delicious. Perfectly executed Peruvian-style sauce! They do it better than Peruvian places... BBQ sauce has just the right amount of tang to it. Sweet and flavorful. Service was top tier. Smiles all around.
Brisket sandwich?Whiskey Flats style just get it like they have it on the menu it was totally epic super delicious. The flavor was amazing. Red onion vinegar, and other flavors with the barbecue sandwich is off the hook.
New location coming to Gaffey? Old Happy Deli looks closed and under renovation. Could be an upgrade in parking, service and food quality and consistency!
Tried this local BBQ spot in San Pedro and was pleasantly surprised. The brisket was excellent! I found the ribs so-so but I'm willing to give it another shot as well as try their other meats. I've been back since but they do close early at times so it's not really an ideal dinner option.
Beef brisket can be shared with 2 or even 3 depending on how hungry you are but for me it's a huge portion. It's super soft and best to eat with the sauce that's available on the table. The bread that was served together with the brisket is as nice as the brisket. The employees are awesome! I will definitely be back on that place when I visit the Friendship Bell once again. Super cool bbq spot in pedro. The guys running it are awesome. Good salt of the earth people. It has a nice outdoor seating area... And the menu keeps growing. my favorite is the ribs... Fall off the bone deliciousness! You can't go wrong with almost any of their sides. The chili is always a great cold weather comfort food. Make sure you try it with their cornbread. Parking is easy across the street on Pacific or neighborhood adjacent if the few parking spaces are taken in their small lot.
